Tumbao Bravo

 Tumbao Bravo

Winner of 3 Detroit Music Awards, this exciting combo plays the rhythms of Cuba with jazzy harmonic compositions written by band members. For June 9, bandleader Paul Vornhagen will  perform on sax/flute/piccolo/percussion with Brian DiBlassio on piano, Olman Piedra on congas/cajon/percussion and Pat Prouty on Bass. Their recordings have been featured on all the major NPR jazz programs nationwide. Mambo, cha cha, rumba, bolero and Afro-Cuban 6/8 are some of the rhythms that will be explored. A celebration of life–happy, upbeat and danceable.

“Each bandmember brings a high level of comfort and experience with Afro- Cuban music…a colorful and exciting repertoire.”  Chip Boaz, Latin Jazz Corner
