Relics of the Future is a collection of five old friends from Southeast Michigan who get together to make music. The members have played in a variety of bands through the decades and now have a sound not quite like anyone else. The first Relics of the Future gig was in 2022 at cafe 704. Since then the lineup and repertoire have evolved, but the music keeps going. Relics of the Future often perform at El Limon Cafe, Zal Gaz Grotto, Holler Fest, and back yards everywhere. During the summer, Relics often practice on the back porch, and the police have only intervened once (so far).

The band features a wide variety of musical styles and instruments. Pretty much anything goes. The repertoire features quite a few jazz and latin songs with a sprinkling of country, rock, and pop. Most of the tunes are originals written by the band members, augmented with some cover songs reimagined in unusual styles. All five members join in on the singing

Charles Dayringer – congas, clarinet, lap steel, percussion
Jim Cooney – guitar
Paul Bairley – keyboards
Paul Girard – flute, saxophone, percussion
Tim Berla – bass
