Laz and Helen Slomovits

Laz Slomovits has played a number of concerts at Cafe 704 over the years, always with his wife Helen, until she passed away in July 2012. To honor her memory, and celebrate her life, Laz is dedicating this yearly concert to her. Proceeds from the evening will be donated to Alpha House, an emergency shelter for homeless children and their families. Helping families in these circumstances was very close to Helen's heart. Laz will be joined by a number of musicians, most of whom performed and recorded with Helen: Laz's twin brother San, his niece Emily, Peter Madcat Ruth, Alaura Massaro, Laurel Federbush, Lori Fithian, Eric Fithian, Jean Chorazyczewski, Jeanne Mackey, Ken Ishii and Martin Torch-Ishii. The concert will feature Helen's songs, the poetry of Rumi and Hafiz set to music by Laz, as well as pieces by each of the guest musicians.
